Christmas excitement, with parties, and presents,
And choirs, and reindeer, and cards filled with mirth,
And skating, and snowmen, and everything pleasant,
A great celebration of Jesus’s birth!
But January’s down time, low time,
No motion, no rhyme,
Just slow time.
Spring break’s in March, and then Easter rejoicing!
Birdies, and bunnies, and flowers in bloom!
Great hallelujahs we’re eagerly voicing!

Today was the oral Spelling Bee at Elk Creek Elementary, from which I retired in 2002. They invite me back every year, and I am honored to accept. I’ve been doing the Bee for decades now, and fancy I’m quite good at it.
