NEED and Total Forgiveness
Aug 9th, 2007 by Elsi
I’ve been reading Total Forgiveness by R. T. Kendall. Actually, I’ve read it several times this summer. He sets an amazingly high standard–no, that’s not right: He points out the high standard Jesus sets for dealing with hurtful behavior.
On page 96, Kendall says, “When speaking to or about another person, ask yourself if what you are about to say will meet their NEED:
Necessary–Is it necessary to say this?
Encourage–Will this encourage them?
Edify–Will it edify, build them up and make them stronger?
Dignify–Will it dignify them?”
That’s how I would like to live … pray that I will move closer to that standard, would you? Thanks!
Thanks for sharing Kendall’s challenge. What a reflection of Jesus indeed. Just think of the power and refinement possibilities…
