Meandering Moments by Elsi

It’s been a long week, and I just got home from youth group. We had a wonderful time—I taught them “We Are One in the Spirit,” and we sang “Blessed Be Your Name,” too. We looked up a bunch of verses showing things Jesus did that we can do (eat, pray, teach, walk around, have compassion). We even had cupcakes in honor of Vicki’s birthday.

And, we talked about our hopes for a retreat. This is not part of the Chinese culture, apparently. Take the kids away, overnight? Not safe! So the parents are having a hard time working their minds around the concept. We’ll meet with the parents next Friday, during the fellowship meal, to show what our plans are, how much Bible teaching and prayer time we’ll have, that it’s not just for fun. And that we have plans to keep their kids very safe.

Pray that we will be able to convince the parents to let us try this. And then, of course, that we have a successful and spiritually deep retreat!
