graduation
May 18th, 2010 by Elsi
I am pleased to announce that Elsi, my personal human, has at long-last graduated from intermediate obedience school.
I first took her to PetSmart for class shortly after I joined her household. After interviewing several applicants, I chose Morgan Millner as our trainer. You wouldn’t believe how poorly trained Elsi was then—yelling at me for performing my duty of barking away danger, tugging at the leash on walks, guiding me toward dangerous beasts … it was really discouraging.
Well, that was a year and a half ago, and she has greatly improved! She is so well-trained that she will produce a treat for a variety of cues, from my sitting or lying down to my leading her along the sidewalk. I fear she does still have a tendency to wander out of sight, but if I wait patiently she always comes back and offers happy noises and yummy treats.
I’m really quite proud of her!
Sally, I’m so glad to see that your human, Elsi, is finally getting it. It takes us awhile sometimes … Nice job of training her! Tell your human she might enjoy looking at my picture blog post of my cat, Cinnamon, (I’m not sure you will like it, though) enjoying our travels in our hybrid camper and going to the ocean at http://maggiethedogwhochangedmylife.blogspot.com/2010/04/in-honor-of-my-precious-cat-cinnamon.html (Blog name: Dawn Kairns and Maggie the Dog)
Keep up the good work with Elsi!
